Bonjour
Pouvez-vous donner des dates pour permettre de cerner les recherches ? Je pense que je peux vous aider car j'ai déjà fait pas mal de recherches sur les liens entre le Boulonnais et l'Angleterre pour moi personnellement et pour des amies. Can you give us dates so we can search more easily ? I think I can help you : I've searched the links between Boulogne and England for me personnaly and for friends. Amicalement Marie-Lise |

I have the 1901 census for Warwickshire Parish of Coventry and can see that John Gillings was married to Camille Scheer and she was age 26. Camille is John's second wife. Living at 12 Craven Street Gosford Fields Coventry. He was a railway engine driver. She was born Bologne Sur Mer on the census. Children that are lving with them are Lilly who on the previous census was down as a niece. Andre age 6 George aged 4 and Harry, my husbands grandfather, aged 1. I have some photos that are definitely French. The style of my French side of the family matches the dress style. No birth date for her. On the 1891 census John Gillings is married to Emma aged 32 and they just have a niece called lilly. |

Bonjour à tou(te)s
Hello Jadams Family name "SCHEER" does not seem to originate from Boulogne and around . It's more like an eastern French name (Alsace) or even German . The population in Boulogne grew up from 7814 inhabitants in 1801 to 46000 in 1898 , due to intense fishing activity and its all over Europe very renowned curative "sea baths" . In addition there was a huge British "colony" living downtown. More, in 1853/1854 100000 French soldiers (from all over France) stood here waiting for departure with British Army to fight the Russians in Crimea. That is to say Boulogne was quite a "cosmopolitan" city at these times... Why am I "storying" this ? because I bet Camille's ancestors won't be find in and around Boulogne. The real luck would be that her mother did give indeed birth to her in Boulogne in 1875 or so. In this case her parents names , addresses , perhaps birth places, appear on Camille own birth certificate. Next step is to ask the Boulogne City Hall Registry Office (unfortunately I haven't got time enough to do it myself...) Cordialement Michel Poulain |

I think I've already seen that name. Anyway, I'm going to Boulogne on Tuesday morning and I'll have a look for you. If I find the birth certificate, I'll send you the photo. Friendly Marie-Lise |

Friendly Marie-Lise Fingers crossed. Thank you very much. I have my Grandmothers side of the family (Jeandenans) right back to 1754 which is great. Jacqui |

I have found an old photograph of Camille Scheer and wonder if you have a section for putting photos.
